The sprinter from Verona surrenders in a sprint to Dupont and Pluto in the first stage of the Chinese race

Xining, 9 July 2023 – The adventure at the Tour of Qinghai Lake for Team corratec – Selle Italia starts with a podium for Attilio Viviani, third in the sprint that opened the Chinese stage race.

The team directed by Francesco Frassi took responsibility for controlling the race especially in the finale, with the aim of getting Viviani into the best position to contest the sprint.

“It’s a good start,” Viviani said after the conclusion of the stage, “this third place confirms that the preparation was adequate. We did a good team effort, overcoming difficult racing situations to which we reacted in a compact manner. Head to the next few days with the aim of repeating myself and maybe even improving on that by going in search of the first win of the season.”  

For Team corratec – Selle Italia this is the twelfth podium of a season in which the search for the first win of  continues. A new opportunity will be tomorrow’s 2nd stage of the Tour of Qinghai Lake, the 132km Duoba-Guide with a GPM at 3768 metres.
