The rider from Bergamo outsprints the Uruguayan Fagundez, claiming his first career win

Huzhu, 11 July 2023 – After a season with many second and third places, Team corratec – Selle Italia took its first victory of the year in the third stage of the Tour of Qinghai Lake, the 201-km long Guide-Huzhu.

The winner was 25-year-old Davide Baldaccini, in his first career triumph, who was able to break away from the peloton with the Uruguayan Eric Fagundez when there were less than 20 km to go, and then to control him in a tight sprint.

“It was a long and hard stage that made a lot of selection. – Baldaccini said after crossing the finish line – I knew that in the sprint I wouldn’t have a chance and that I had to anticipate. I seized the moment and played my cards well in the final. I’m happy and excited for this first success and I want to dedicate it to the whole Team corratec – Selle Italia, which has given me this chance last year, to my girlfriend, who has always been by my side, and to my grandfather, who passed away three years ago and who I’m sure would have been very happy today”.

In the general classification Baldaccini moved up to second place, 35″ behind new leader Wilmar Paredes, who finished in a small group of which Marco Murgano was also a member.

Tomorrow’s 4th stage from Huzhu to Menyuan with a GPM with 140 km to go and a tricky finale.
