Menyuan, 12 July 2023 – At Tour of Qinghai Lake the breakaway gets to the finish for the third day in a row and Team corratec – Selle Italia is again on the spotlight thanks to Stefano Gandin, who came second in the 188 km long Huzhu-Menyuan.
The Venetian rider had escaped from the group when there were just over 90 km to go in the company of Dutchman Frank Van den Broek, who proved better legs in the finale by attacking 12 km from the finish and closing with 1’52” on the Venetian on a day made hard by bad weather conditions.

“After the Italian Championships I had bronchitis,” said Gandin after the finish, “recovering shortly before coming here. In the first stages I struggled but today I felt better. I attacked at the start but after the GPM there was a reshuffle with the main group coming back downhill. Van den Broek and I didn’t get back up and carried on, unfortunately I suffered from the cold and when he attacked in the finale I couldn’t respond. I will definitely try again, always keeping an eye on Murgano and Baldaccini”.

In the general classification there are no big changes with the Colombian Wilmar Paredes leading with 36″ over our Davide Baldaccini. Marco Murgano is also well placed, 54″ behind the Yellow Jesey.
Tomorrow’s stage 5 will reach 3764 metres on the climb of Jingyangling before the fast finale in Qilian.
